Click here to launch the live robotic camera control & video (now with ZOOM via scrollwheel!). You may be asked to install a tiny browser plugin by Panasonic to view the camera. It's harmless. Click the presets to move the camera's robotic lens.
Since a lot of people play with this over the Internet and look all around, it may not have been left pointing at block 37. The construction site is at Preset 1 and looks like a giant pile of dirt right now. This IP webcam is located on the 12th floor of the Chicago Title Tower looking east towards the lake. The camera is a Panasonic BL-C10A.

Recent Updates:
- There is now a Wikipedia entry for 108 N. State / Block 37 which links to this page.
- The New 108 N. State website from the Mills Corp.is now up (I had nothing to do with it. Cool renderings and media hype stuff.).
The Block 37 site is now going to be called '108 North State Street'. It's their marketing ploy to start fresh and shake off the site's 'troubled past.' (108 N. State Street. eight & state rhyme. they could have chosen a number of addresses due to the whole-block scale. notice the location of the address marker on Google Maps) The block was demolished in 1990 and now, 16 years later, someone is finally going to do something with it.
Here's a page with artistic renderings of the building-to-be, and description of the site's history.
You can search Google for Block 37 or 108 N. State to see what's going on in the news. There are plans for a major CTA transit hub under the building, with express trains to Midway and O'Hare.
See an overhead shot of the area on Google Maps < When this photo was taken the block 37 was set up for some gala tent event or art festival, with the white tents and walkways. (the white tall building in the upper left is where the camera is housed. Or click for an extreme closeup from above.
Other things you'll be able to see with the cam: front face of Marshall Fields and its clocks on State Street, the NE corner of the Daley Center, the top of the Goodman theater sign, elevated trains at the State/Lake station, the satellite dishes of Channel 7, Old Navy on State Street, and a lot more architecture I'm not going to list here. You would be able to see the lake east down Randolph if the camera had a wider contrast range.
